As I am now apparently the therapist for a friend of mine who has been in relationship hell for the past several months, we’ve had this conversation a lot, about leaving someone you love. It involves a lot of trying to look into the future without the benefit of a crystal ball, and deciding which intensely painful thing is the best option. What it comes down to is that if the pain of staying outweighs the pain of leaving, then it’s time to go.

And then we drink.

“It’s enough.” This is my mantra, my motto, my theme: everything, everyone, the world itself, even me… it’s enough. This is relatively new to me and powerful therefore in its novelty, so forgive, please, my evangelism. It may have nothing whatsoever to do with what you’ve so frankly set forth above, but it is absolutely what came to mind as I read your words. Our efforts, the time available, the people around us, ultimately even the outcomes are sufficient.

You’re enough, Sir. I’m enough, too. We’re all stupidly, hilariously, and genuinely enough.

I truly loved this piece, its almost like reading what is inside my mind when i came up with this prompt, knowing it is the hardest thing yet i also know like you said, what about later in life i ask myself the, “what if” and that is something i dont want to be asking myself a year or two or maybe 3 years from now. even as painful it is you are right rather burn then feeling nothing at all, and i am sure there are many others that feels this way and sometimes we just give up to easily.

Thanks for the great piece you have written amazing.
